Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel and jazz in his signature style. Sunshine has appeared on Broadway, during the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Her real name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta, she originates from Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing as well as playing the piano at church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in the city's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The single featuring her voice, Stalk You the House came out only in Japan. It has been remixed numerous times and is the mainstay in her live performance. The singer has also provided her singing for The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. The year 2005 saw Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in his stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award winner) was approached for the position of choir conductor for Dreamgirls in Atlanta in the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national interest during four consecutive shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
